I'm up early every day. Very early. 4:30/4:45 early. My husband leaves by 5:30 and then...the house is silent. My boys are still fast asleep, my dogs are happily curled up, and my work is only silently calling me to come create.
Once and awhile, I'll step outside for a moment. I have to tell you; there is something about stepping outside at 5 a.m. that feels like entering a different world.
The air seems softer then. The sun hasn't come up yet, but it lingers just beneath the horizon, gently hinting day will be here. The world is still, untouched by the noise and movement of the day.
And then, slowly, the birds begin.
At first, just one off in the distance, clear and bold in the quiet. Then another, and another, until the silence is gently filled with a chorus that feels both alive and peaceful at the same time. In that moment, everything feels new and magical.
Standing there, I realize how much of this is missed in the rush of everyday life.
A gentle rhythm only nature can create. A rhythm only nature can keep so consistent.
And if you look closely, you start to notice the trees.
Where just days ago there were only bare branches, now there are tiny buds emerging. They don’t rush. They simply begin.
It’s a gentle reminder that growth doesn’t always look like something big or obvious. Sometimes it looks like this...quiet, patient, nearly invisible.
But it’s happening.
In these early moments, before the day asks anything of us, there is space to notice. To listen. To breathe a little deeper.
It’s here that I’m reminded why I’m drawn to the work I do...capturing these quiet, fleeting moments in nature. Because they hold something we all need more of... stillness, presence, and a sense that not everything has to move so quickly.
Sometimes, all it takes is stepping outside a little earlier than usual.
Step out to hear something you’ve never noticed.
Step out to see something just beginning.
Step out and remember that even the smallest changes are meaningful.
And that beauty often arrives quietly, in its own perfect time.
We'll talk soon...
